SiGNAL and the Bordon Builders Network became proud sponsors of the Farnham SoapBox rally this month, and we're also entering a team. We'll be using the new workshop space at SiGNAL to build our soapbox and we're also offering free space to other teams on a first-come-first-served basis!

In the spirit of fair play, team building and building links in the community, Farnham SoapBox teams that need a workshop to build their soapbox can share our workshop space in Bordon. There's not much room so get in quick if you would like to take up this offer! Email [email protected] to let us know if you want workshop space.

What, when and where is Farnham SoapBox?

If you haven't noticed the new banner outside our workshop space, you might not know anything about Farnham SoapBox. It's a charity event for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, an organisation that many local residents will know. The hospice provides palliative care for people in the local community, covering West Surrey and North East Hampshire. In fact it's the only place offering Hospice Care services in this area.

For those people who are not familiar with the concept of SoapBox, basically it involves teams building a soapbox (a vehicle with no engine with a driver and one passenger), and then racing it down a hill with some obstacles. The course for Farnham SoapBox will be Castle Hill and Castle Street so expect speed and craziness!

The event is on Sunday 18th August starting at 10:30am. There's a suggested donation of £3 per person to Phyllis Tuckwell for spectators. As well as the Bordon Builders Network team, there are plenty of other local businesses and groups entering. It's going to be a very exciting day.

More details can be found here.

The soapbox team - the Bordon Builders Network

We founded the Bordon Builders Network (a Facebook group for local trades) last year, and it's already grown to over 160 members. Some of these businesses are also based at SiGNAL in our workshop or offices. Several of these businesses expressed an interest in taking part in the Farnham SoapBox rally, and they form the core Bordon Builders Network soapbox team.

They include: Jigsaw Property Maintenance,  IT provider Blucando, fencing specialists NSM Fencing, emergency plumbing and drainage company Drain Doctor, kitchen designers and fitters Kubo Kitchens and home automation and electrical specialists the Home Solutions Group.

Our soapbox will also be driven / piloted by Leon Tyrrell of Aldershot Drives & Mini Digger Services, and co-piloted by the one and only Gareth Turner of SiGNAL!

We can't wait!

You can join the Bordon Builders Network on Facebook here.
